Using sodium chlorate to regenerate creates a unique problem. Sodium chloride produced during regeneration will begin to crystallize in the etching machine. The machine will need to be emptied and cleaned at regular intervals. Sodium chloride crystals are abrasive and increase the wear on moving parts.
