responsibility” mindset. Just because we can do anything with certain technologies doesn’t mean we should! Overall, this class made me think about whether technology influencing humanity or is humanity influencing technology? Although technology is making life easier and helping human desires to become reality, in the long run, it will change the course of humanity, most likely in a negative way. Technology which accomplishes work much faster, easier and simpler than humans is increasing, hence, may result in a future where humans are not needed. Human characteristics are also likely to be forgotten as new developments of technology are beginning to eliminate or alter some of the natural qualities of humans which may lead to humans to become inhumane and lose human dignity. Also, technology that can change physical appearances may cause humans to alter their look to fit a similar sense of perfection, leading to a decrease in distinguishing characteristics which form the diversity of human nature and human communities. Another impact of technology that this class has caused me to contemplate is that moral sense may change. It already has in fact, people have become more and more lenient with what is considered acceptable with technology and it’s important to remain aware of this fact. One could also argue that the evolution of technology is a part of humanity and how we develop. I can see it both ways, but personally consider it more important to maintain humanity and our most human traits like empathy, unpredictability, etc.
With technology redefining us as a species, in a world of rampaging information, lightening fast change and technology overload, it’s essential that we find time to reflect and contemplate what it all means. To do this, I think people just need to take time out of their days to disconnect to connect. This means spending time with real people and maintaining human connection. I think it’s also worthy to have real discussions with people about technology and
