THE POWER OF ONE

Ten years ago, I was invited to speak on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to help celebrate the 47th anniversary of the March on Washington. What a great moment in history, when a collective body came together to speak to the nation about jobs, justice, and economic empowerment. Today, on the 57th anniversary, we continue that work with the understanding and support of the power of one.
Archon Martin Luther King Jr. , talked about a dream in very personal terms. He understood it wasn’t his dream alone, it was the dream harbored in the hearts of millions over multiple generations. He knew that fulfilling that dream would take collective action. That is why today, August 28th, is so important. As Grand Sire, and with the blessing of your executive officers, I joined The Links, Incorporated, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. , the Archdiocese of Washington D. C. , the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, St. Joseph AME Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and others on Sunday, August 23rd, under the theme Coming Together as One, to commemorate the August 28, 1963, March on Washington.
