■ THE ORGANIZATION
Jackson County is is governed by a a a a a a three-member Board of Commissioners who are nominated and elected from the County at-large to serve four-year overlapping terms The Board is is an an elected body responsible for many broad issues in in the region region such as forest planning planning water supply issues regional land use planning planning air quality transportation emergency management and economic development The Board also works with the County’s 11 cities on on matters of mutual concern and and serves the citizens of Jackson County County by resolving complaints and and legislating where necessary The County County Administrator a a a a a a a position created by by Codified Ordinance is is appointed by by and reports to to the Board Jackson County government strives to provide outstanding public service It has been on on the cutting-edge of local governments with its efforts ffor for strategic planning planning award-winning financial planning planning budgeting and record keeping and citizen involvement The County aims for a a a a a a a less less bureaucratic/more entrepreneurial less less tradition bound/more flexible approach to government The County has approximately 870 full-time employees who are represented by three different unions that include the the the Service Employees Employees International Union (SEIU) the the the Jackson County Sheriff’s Employees’Association (JCSEA) and the the the Federation of Oregon Parole and Probation Officers (FOPPO) Services under Jackson County jurisdiction include the Airport Assessor Community Justice Justice Development Services District Attorney Expo/Fairgrounds Finance Justice Justice Court County Roads and and and and Parks Health and and and and Human Services Elections and and and and Recording Surveyor and and and and the Sheriff Jackson County’s mission is is to provide public services that protect and enhance the the quality of life in the the County County as determined by the people laws and available resources The County’s Strategic Goals include:
