The Position
Reporting to to the the Information and General Services Director the the County Librarian is a a a a a a a department head with overall responsibility for the the activities of the the Library Services Department The incumbent directs the the County’s central and and branch libraries prepares and and controls the the budget
for County libraries and and provides expert professional assistance to the Board of of Supervisors and and County County management staff The County County Librarian is held accountable for the expenditure of special tax funds approved by the the local citizens and reserved for the the County Libraries Common duties include:
» Effectively utilizes communication leadership and and and interpersonal skills to convey and and and instill the the Library’s vision and purpose by building teams motivating others developing direct reports and maximizing use of human resources » Creates breakthrough strategies and plans regarding the County’s library services » Provides leadership by articulating and following through on
agreed-to goals for the Library » Accomplishes work through others by clearly assigning responsibility monitoring processes progress and and results and and encouraging feedback » Develops and and and directs the the implementation of goals objectives policies procedures and and and work standards for library services within the County 6 Nevada County County – County County Librarian
