■ Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has demonstrated leadership and and and management experience in community and and and economic development with the the ability to set a a a a a a clear vision for the the department With a a a a a a proven track record for building relationships the ideal candidate will support a a a a a a a collaborative environment while guiding the team through potential challenges and opportunities The new director must be an an ethical and and and independent manager demonstrating political savvy flexibility and and and adaptability in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a complex and and and ever-changing environment Competitive candidates will possess proven budget and and fiscal experience and good financial judgement Additional characteristics being sought include:
» Proven leader with high emotional intelligence and and an an an an understanding of human behavior » Knowledge of public policy and and political process especially as it it relates to federal state county and and municipal governments » Demonstrated personnel management skills including including the ability to to motivate encourage support and and coach staff to optimum performance including recruitment and and development of diverse teams » Excellent written and and and verbal communication skills skills and and and the the ability to exercise these skills skills in in in group and and and individual settings » Demonstrated ability to establish develop and and and and sustain key working relationships and and and and work work work collaboratively and and effectively with management and and workforce teams as as well as as through collaborate relationships within the community ■ Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a a a a master’s degree in in City or Regional Planning Economic Development or a a closely related
