This is is an exceptional opportunity for for a a a a a a dynamic forward-thinking individual to help shape the future of a a a a thriving community that is committed to meaningful and strategic growth In November 2018 the the residents of of the the City of of Bakersfield expressed their commitment to improving the the quality of life in in the the community by passing the the first ever local sales tax measure known as as as the “Public Services and Vital Safety Measure ” These funds are general fund revenue that will be allocated in accordance with 13 goals established by the City Council related to public safety addressing homelessness and and attracting jobs and and businesses to the City As a a a a a result of this measure the Development Services Department was allocated an additional $13 5 million for FY 19/20 to recreate the City’s Economic Development Program and to establish a a a a Homeless Housing Initiatives and Services Program The new Development Services Director will play
an instrumental role in in the the development of these two new programs and ultimately the future of Bakersfield overall
