TRAPS Strategic Initiatives
» Engage all who serve in in in the public and and private Parks and and Recreation industry with opportunities for networking collaboration partnerships and and and social events by expanding organizational membership identifying new target audiences and and and and enhancing relationships with universities that provide a a a a a a a a a a a a Parks and and Recreation or related degree plans
» Provide public recognition for outstanding services programs and and facilities created by by its members utilize citizens at at the community level by by establishing establishing a a a a a a a a “friends group” and/or re-establishing citizen citizen branch
» Expand legislative efforts (platform) and and and utilize relationships with policymakers and and and and and organizations of influence to support legislation and and and and funding at at at at at at at the local state and and and and national level that will benefit parks recreation open space and and and tourism
» Establish industry standards standards for for the state of Texas by researching developing and and and implementing “best practice” standards standards for for various service areas/functions or delivery systems
» Connect membership with current and and and relevant trends information suppliers and and and and and services that will enhance professional growth and and and and and community development and and and and and influence a a a a a a a a a a a a a a greater understanding of of of the the value of the the parks recreation open space and and tourism
» Ensure the the financial stability of the the organization and and identify potential partners and and untapped revenue sources » Provide expert training and and educational opportunities to support ongoing professional development and and career success through conferences workshops webinars on-line learning publications as as well as as developing a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a virtual library (depository) and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a speakers’ bureau to to to educate those outside of of of the the the industry about Parks and and and Recreation and and to to articulate the the the value of of of the the the quality of of of life experiences
