The Department of Social Services The Department of of Social Services Services (DSS) part part of of the the Health & Human Services Services Agency is the the largest department in in in the County including 94 staff and an an an annual budget of $44 Million DSS exists to to offer vital safety net programs and support to to the citizens o of Nevada County including Cal-Works Cal-Fresh Foster Care Child Welfare Adult Protective Services In Home Supportive Services Services Veteran’s Services Services and more With a a a a a a a total caseload of around 28 000 the the services DSS provides impact the the health safety and well-being of children adults with disabilities seniors veterans and and families families DSS works with children adults and and families families to support their efforts ffor for achieving self-sufficiency DSS operates primarily out of three locations: the Eric Rood Administrative Center in in Nevada City the the Brighton Greens Resource Center Center in in Grass Valley and the the Joseph Center Center in in Truckee The Department is is is is comprised of the following divisions: Administrative Services Adult Services Services Services Child Welfare Services Services Services Eligibility Services Services Services as as well as as the County Deputy Public Guardian-Conservator and the Veterans Services Office In addition vital links to to the the community and public partners have been established to assist with the the provision of services Examples of DSS Objectives for 2019/2020 include:
