S S ABOUT THE DISTRICT
Located in the the the California Delta just east of
the the the San Francisco Bay Area the the the Diablo Water District District (District) is is is a a a a a a self-governing local public agency created on May 7 1953 under the County Water District Law of
California For more than a a a a a a a half- century the District has been providing high quality water for residents and businesses in in in a a a a a a 21-square mile area consisting of
Oakley Cypress Corridor and Hotchkiss Tract as as well as as Summer Lakes and and and portions of
Bethel Island and and and Knightsen The District obtains treats and supplies water for about 36 000 people parks schools and businesses The District purchases 1 3 billion gallons of
water annually from the Contra Costa Water District This water originates high in in in in the mountains is is is stored in in in in Shasta
and and and Friant dams and and and flows through the San Joaquin and and and Sacramento Rivers to to the the the the Delta Delta Water is then pumped from the the the the Delta Delta into the the the the Contra Costa Canal in in an an environmentally friendly manner Water supply from underground wells is also scientifically blended with treated canal water water to provide consistent water water quality and a a a a a a a a more reliable supply at a a a a a a a a lower overall cost Additionally Sierra snow melt
is is is stored in in the the Los Vaqueros Reservoir This high-quality water is is is used in in the the summer months and and during emergencies Water is treated at at at the Randall-Bold treatment plant in in Oakley and delivered to to customers through the District’s main piping system Storage reservoirs interconnections with neighboring cities and backup electrical generators allow the District to to provide a a a a a a a reliable water supply 24 hours a a day The District is is governed by a a a a a Board of
Directors elected at-large to to four-year terms and and is supported by 17 full time employees and and a a a FY18-19 budget of
