Prólogo
After having the opportunity of of presenting Fabian Carreras’ art in in in in in my ho- meland – this year one of of his his posters was included in in in in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a group exhibition among world leading poster poster artists in in in in in in in Retroavangarda Gallery in in in in in in in Warsaw I have the honor of writing a a a a a a a a a a a a a few opening words for this wonderful publication Fabian Carreras is is a a a a a a a a a a a a very valuable creator His posters combine fine graphic design (with the use of modern technologies) with with hand drawn illustra- tion tion tion which is is is good graphics in in in in traditional spirit This combination brings to mind the the the golden years 60s and and 70s of polish poster and and their famous ‘painterliness’ – which was namely the the the the Polish Poster School These excep- tional qualities resulted not so much from from from the the the the the lack of computer technology back then but rather from from from the the the the the fact that almost all artists from from from Polish Pos- ter ter School were were graduates of the the the the painting faculty (and not graphic design as one one could suppose) Polish posters from that period were were very colorful painterly artistic In gray streets they shone like true pieces of art art art art Applied arts and ‘high’ art art art has thus fluid borders Fabian Carreras crosses these borders as as well His posters are very illustra- tive artistic The artist artist often implements dynamic typography the the roots of of which can be traced back to to pre-war avant-garde arts Carreras’ pieces emit an an an an an an unusual energy also thanks to to their vibrant colors typical of South Ame- rican temperament Despite the the huge range of of of formal solutions and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a large dose of of of handma- de illustration posters of of of Fabian Carreras contain a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a shortcut a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a synthesis which is is the the most important factor in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a poster poster The author has full control of all elements in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a project and always gives every element element its proper place nothing remains redundant in in in in the composition Nowadays we are are flooded with monotonous computer graphics based lar- gely on on on on ready copied software solutions Fabian Carreras’ artistic indivi- dualism presented in in in in in this catalogue seems as as something fresh and in in in in in my opinion very valuable Ann Klos
