Our client is one of the world’s largest companies for the development of Powertrain systems for internal combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems.
Objectives
Our client’s need was focused on their Powertrain Consulting Services. They required specific skills including Calibration, Design Release Engineering and Controls. They were targeting mid level professionals with three to five years experience.
Their goal was to have a minimum of eight to ten candidates to interview over a two day period and they were looking to make three to five hires.
Strategy
We used a combination of contingent search methods with headhunting, network and referral approches being used.
Challenges faced
Our client usually had a struggle to find candidates that fit their complicated profile. They were looking for highly specialised Powertrain skills, specifically European Calibration Engineers. These engineers would be required to move to Michigan via our clients’ head office in Graz. This double relocation prerequiste along with visa requirements and the specialist skill set necessity meant it was a very challenging assignment.
Internally, very senior people needed to be involved in the interview process, which led to difficulties
in scheduling and co-ordinating interviews. This meant that the recruitment process was longer than usual and in turn this created challenges to keep the candidates engaged and available in
the process. Being flexible and being prepared to manage that cycle was critical to ensure that all parties were kept informed and up to date with information about the progress.
Solutions
Our Powertrain team used existing international talent pools to network, research and identify suitable people. After screening we shortlisted
ten CVs leading to eight 1st stage interviews. We attended the final interviews ourselves to assist our client’s staff.
We worked hard to keep the communication flowing both ways throughout the long process along with paying close attention to detail to ensure we had covered every eventuality.
Results
• Ten CVs leading to eight 1st stage interviews • Three candidates were offered and accepted • The client was able to commence their project
on schedule which saved them time & money
Our client said
“Overall, we received many qualified candidates that had been properly vetted. It was very helpful to feel confident in every candidate you submitted”
