Celebrating Children at Play in Woodseats
IF you have the biggest and best park in Sheffield on your doorstep, you need to make full use of it, so Graves Park is to be central to this summer’s 13th Woodseats Festival.
The Big Parade on Sunday, July 8th, is to head into the park’s Cobnar Road entrance where there will be many stalls, performers, children’s rides and lots of opportunities for families to have fun.
There were worries earlier in the year that this year’s event might not take place due to a shortage of volunteers. However, an appeal posted on the Active8 facebook page attracted some new supporters to the planning group.
Delighted secretary Michael Gagan also announced that festival planners will be joining forces with the Friends of Woodseats Playground Graves Park for this year’s Fun Day on Sunday, 8th July.
The location will be the area around the playground at the Cobnar Road entrance to Graves Park, instead of the past venue of Woodseats School yard.
It has been decided that the 2018 Festival theme will be ‘Children at Play in Woodseats’ to mark the new arrangement.
Michael said: “We shall have the usual events - the stage with local performers, the various stalls and the fairground. The parade, children’s art competition and raffle will also be held once again.
“Further volunteers will be most welcome to help on the Sunday. As always, we are very grateful for the generous support we receive from many shops and businesses in Woodseats.”
