WHAT’S A GAMER?
By definition, A "gamer" is someone who partakes in interactive gaming, such as video games or board games. The term usually includes those who spend a notable part of their leisure time playing or learning about games.
ARE YOU A GAMER?
Billions of people every day play games on their smartphones. Candy crushing, growing crops, racing cars, fighting wars, shooting birds, word games, card games are just a
few of different genres of games you can play right now on your smartphone. Does this make you a GAMER? I say NO.
Gaming has a become a billion dollar business. For example, let’s look at the software. THE DISK. Music cd’s $15. DVD’s $20 Game Disc $60. Same disk, with different
types of media on them. At $60 a game, it can become a very expensive hobby. The making of a game can cost up to 25 million to 500 million dollars. And the day it
releases, millions of gamers run to their local game stop
or Walmart or console to download the game for $60. This type of investment in something you have yet to see or
play is incredible. And happens every week.
But to become a GAMER you must invest in your hobby, in
your hardware. PC, Xbox one, PS4 or the WII. They can range from $300 to $1000 dollars. Then your weapon of choice. The controller or the mouse and keyboard, which can range from $60 to $100. Knowing your weapon and how
to utilize it for any game takes time, patience and you must be persistent. The GAMER takes games very serious. Most don’t pay all this money to lose all the time. So
determination is a key factor in becoming a GAMER. There are a
lot of skills you learn from gaming that you can apply to your real world. There is hand to eye
coordination, problem solving, strategizing, and creating.
Yes, gaming can help sharpen other skills and
thought processes that you use every day
