I wish I could have heard or seen her early poetry reading in and around Philly. If you don’t know Jill it is a must that you get to know her. Although I suggest that you don’t jump in at the middle of her career. Jill Scott should not only be listened to but also studied. You need to go back to her beginning. Each album, single or written word she puts down is like a new chapter or episode of her really good story. You will be captured in her spirit and moved by her essence so much so that you will have to have more!
Listen to her words and you know that her life has not been without it’s own trials and tribulations. We learn though that these bumps in the road are really just that
bumps in the road of a journey that will be filled with that which ultimately places her in a position of positivity
where she can use these life experiences to bless us with a lesson that she has learned in how to turn it all around in your favor. That’s one of the reasons I want to sit down with her, offer her a straight henny and just ask her questions about the missing spaces in between her music and real life. I wouldn’t want to do it for the sake of being nosey but I’m thinking
maybe it turns into a book and then a movie and then a Netflix, HBO or Showtime series. I know that’s where it would have to be shown because I like to believe she and her life can get a little dirty. You guys know The Visual Suite likes a little dirty. Drop the mic baby and keep walking off into the next chapter of your beautiful story.
