OWNER SUBMISSIONS AN APP FOR THAT Mr. Jim Layhe
by Shelby Thue
My name is Shelby Thue (23) and this is Mr. Jim Layhe (13), yes like the trailer park supervisor.
Jim and I came together in June of 2017, I was looking for a second trick riding horse in the winter and came across an ad for him on Facebook.
Jim had previously done ranch work and was used for barrel racing, starated cutting and had done some reining. He was so laid back and mellow
that I was able to start trick riding training on him right away, it didn’t phase him at all and he just did whatever I asked him to do.
A few highlights of our trick riding career together are performing under a spotlight at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, and competing in the National Trick Riding Championships finishing third over all. Jim has also helped me to win
2 Canadian Trick Riding Association Reserve Championships, as well as one Championship.
Jim is registered, his papered name is Frosty Tequela. Jim’s sire is Top Quest Zeuss and his dam is Lady Frost I do not know much about appaloosa bloodlines, but i do know that he is a great horse and will have a forever home in my pasture.
It was family friends who are horse traders who had him advertised. I messaged them asking for a price, the price they gave was unfortunately out of my price range so I had actually passed on him at that point.
As time went on I kept seeing the same ad pop up on my facebook for this appaloosa horse. I had
a feeling that it was for a reason and that I was supposed to own that spotted horse. I messaged them again with how I was feeling and we came together to make a payment plan for me. Part of this plan was that I could not change his name.
To this day I am so grateful that they were willing to work with a 19 year old to get a deal done.
