WELCOME
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As always, we are so glad you are here for our Tri-State tournament.
This year’s theme is part of our Lenten theme, “Restore the Roar,” from Amos 1:2 “The LORD roars from Zion and from Jerusalem He utters His voice.” Our focus is a focus on repentance and receiving forgiveness out of repentance.
There are a lot of things in life we can and do get excited about. I am sure that some will get a little too excited about a particular call in a basketball game. Perhaps it will be about whether or not your child gets “enough” playing time. Perhaps in life outside of Tri-State or other tournaments, you may get overly excited about something someone said at work or at church. Perhaps you may get overly excited about the news on T.V.
Whatever we may get excited about, are we even more excited about and concerned with hearing God’s Word. If we are not, then there is a problem. Are we as concerned about our children getting solid Biblical teaching at home and at church as we are about their playing time. Does the stress of life cause us to ignore the roar of God’s Word?
My prayer for you this year and during our worship is that you would pause and hear the roar of God’s Word both in its convicting Law and its saving Gospel. Then, out of the Gospel, that we would bring that Word to a lost and confused world that needs to hear a peace that passes the understanding of this world.
May God’s grace be with you this weekend and protect you as you come and go. Welcome to Immanuel where we are Enlivened by the Gospel, Empowered with its gifts, and Engaged in our community.
