The Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) is an autonomous, self-governing parastatal organisation established by Act no 9 of 1977 as amended. It is the sole regulatory and membership body for the accountancy profession in Lesotho.
Lesotho Professional Accountancy Programme (LePAP) is the qualification established by LIA aimed primarily at securing quality professionals in both the private and public sectors.
It is a local qualification that is relevant and responsive to the needs of Lesotho; also international as it is bench-marked against the best international qualifications and complies with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Education Standards. This three-tiered qualification comprises of Technician Accountant, General Accountant and two streamed Chartered Accountant stages; with speciality in Public Sector and Private Sector.
