1 Safely grieving and Honouring a loved One
Amid the fear and anxiety about the COVID-19 pandemic it may be dif cult for people to make decisions about how to safely grieve and honour their loved one.
Many people have become sick with COVID-19 after attending a funeral service. For this reason, there are now strict regulations for funerals to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in communities.
Follow these guidelines to protect yourself and others when you are grieving the loss of a loved one, supporting each other, making funeral arrangements, and participating in funeral services and visitations:
Use technology to connect virtually with family and friends during the grieving process.
Attendance of funerals is limited to 50 people and night vigils are prohibited.
Postpone the memorial service for later when social distancing guidelines are less restrictive.
Practice social distancing by maintaining at least 2 metres between attendees, facility staff, and clergy or of ciants when small, in- person services are held.
Wear your mask while around others and outside of your home.
