We co-authored the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) Human Rights Working Group toolkit on human rights and AI, offering practical guidance to members on navigating the evolving AI landscape with a human rights lens.
Ausbil chaired RIAA’s Human Rights Working Group and served as a key member of the IAST-APAC Steering Committee, spearheading efforts to promote responsible sourcing practices based on best practices identified by Ausbil from previous ESG research field trips.
We leveraged important platforms such as IAST-APAC, AIRA SEDEX, and one- on-one engagements to promote best practices and encourage broader adoption of responsible business practices across industries. We maintain ongoing engagement with industry experts to inform ourselves about best practice, which we can encourage companies to adopt.
Ausbil led a high-profile RIAA event with the UN Special Rapporteur on Modern Slavery, facilitating an important dialogue among investors about their role in combatting modern slavery.
We collaborated with the Human Rights Law Centre and the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) to engage directly with Australian politicians in Parliament House, Canberra, on strengthening the nation’s modern slavery legislation.
Ausbil authored a white paper nominating mandatory human rights due diligence in Australia as a potential next step in the regulatory framework to combat modern slavery.
Ausbil co-chaired IAST-APAC’s Workstream 1 on information sharing and public advocacy, amplifying our collective efforts to drive systemic change.
Our Head of ESG, Måns Carlsson, was appointed as an advisor to the NSW Anti- Slavery Commissioner, further cementing our leadership in advocating for modern slavery reforms.
Ausbil was also appointed to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) Social Issues Reference Group, enhancing our global influence on social responsibility matters. At the PRI Awards, IAST-APAC received a prestigious PRI award for our work, marking a significant milestone in our collective efforts.
We co-signed a letter to the Attorney General’s Department, advocating for a national victims’ compensation scheme for survivors of modern slavery.
Ausbil became the inaugural investment management firm to partner with Domus 8.7 to offer support remediation for victims of slavery, furthering our commitment to restorative justice.
