PARENT PARTICIPATION
At Ku-ring-gai Little Athletics Centre (KLAC), our volunteers are an important part of our community. The dedication of parents and carers who turn up each week ensures our kids have fun, make new friends all whilst achieving their personal bests. When everyone helps out, our kids feel a stronger sense of belonging, and together, we build a nurturing and inclusive athletics centre.
We know how busy life can be, which is why we've created a seasonal planner to help your family schedule volunteer commitments. Each age group
is usually asked to provide volunteers an estimated minimum of 6 times per season. The essential tasks are morning set-up, equipment pack up and the BBQ. This planner will be available on the KLAC website and social media in advance of the season commencing Saturday, 13th September 2025.
Each age group has a dedicated manager who volunteers as a coordinator for the season. Supporting our age managers is vital, and volunteering on Saturdays is a great way to contribute to our Centre whilst watching your athlete(s) participate.
Roles may include:
• Organising athletes
• Results entry
• Recording times
• Preparing events e.g. raking the sandpit • Starting events
While some tasks might be new, we have many experienced volunteers who are more than happy to help and guide you.
NB: Part of Tiny Tot participation is that a parent or carer will always be present helping.
DOING IT FOR THE KIDS!
Older athletes are also encouraged to lend a hand when they can. There are numerous volunteer opportunities at the centre, such as:
• Being an official for an event
• Results entry
• Helping with uniforms
• Handing out registration packs
• Joining the set up and BBQ teams
• Parent help at Championship events
