                CHAPTER 7
CHAMPIONSHIPS
In NSW there are 219 Athletics Centres, of which 123 are dedicated Little Athletics Centres like KLAC. For Championships purposes, these are divided into 23 Zones. KLAC is in the North-East Metropolitan Zone (NEMZ), along with our neighbours, Manly Warringah, Mosman, Hornsby and Northern Districts Little Athletics Centres.
Athletes from these five Centres compete at our NEMZ Championships in age groups 7s–19s. Then athletes from our Zone compete in the Region 5 (NEMZ/NMZ) Championships 8s-19s. Finally, athletes representing the eight Regions compete at one of two State Championships in March. The championships are divided by age with younger athletes competing on specific days.
To select and manage our competitors in these Championships, KLAC uses a Selection Panel (including members of the Executive Council and Life Members) and a team of Age Managers.
Age group 6s athletes do not compete in Championships. Children whose parents have not fulfilled their parent help duties may not be eligible for Championships.
Age Managers notify elected athletes by telephone, notice or e-mail as soon as possible after the selection meetings.
• UNIFORM
All selected athletes must wear the green and yellow KLAC uniform. This is NOT the Club uniform worn at Bannockburn Oval. The uniform is: Ku-ring-gai singlet top or crop top with plain black shorts or sports briefs.
Centre uniform tops can only be purchased at the Centre. The uniform shop will be open for several weeks before each Championship. Note: During actual competition, uniform tops must be tucked in. Board shorts and cargo pants are not acceptable. Logos on clothing must not be visible. Athletes may wear short branded compression garments under their shorts.

• ENTRY FEES
Are determined by the body responsible for organising the respective events. Typically athlete fees are covered by KLAC for State Relays, Zone and Region Championships, and self-funded for the State Championships.
As soon as athletes are selected, parents will be asked to choose a time slot for assisting. These slots are normally about two hours long. Vacant slots will be allocated by the Assistants Officer, and details published prior to the Championships.
