                 INTRODUCTION
MEMBER PROTECTION POLICY
KLAC is a party to and endorses the Little Athletics NSW Member Protection Policy. We are firmly committed to a co-ordinated and comprehensive approach to promote the protection of young people and adults. In accordance with NSW Government principles for child protection and intervention, we aim to promote a safe environment for all young people and adults and to recognise and notify suspected child abuse and neglect. A copy of our full policy is available on request.
As a full member of Athletics Australia, NSW Athletics is a signatory to the National Integrity Framework
for sport, including the Member Protection Policy contained in that framework. Through its membership of NSW Athletics, KLAC is also bound by the National Integrity Framework. Further information on the Sports Integrity and Child Safety aspects of the framework can be found here: https://www.nswathletics.org.au/about/ sports-integrity-child-safety
Child members have the right to be safe, be listened to, be respected, be protected from abuse by other children or adults and to be referred to appropriate professional help if needed. Notification of prohibited conduct in relation to a child or young person should be made to KLAC’s Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) in the first instance. The MPIO will listen to issues raised by members before triaging and referring them to the right place to find a resolution. KLAC has a policy to meet and exceed the NSW Government’s Child Safe Scheme requirements, including obtaining relevant declarations from people having one-to-one supervision of children. The details of the NSW Governments approach to the protection of children and young people can be found here: https://ocg.nsw.gov.au/
