One of our goals for the ANZCP website is to ensure it is always evolving and being updated with current interests and information. We would like to introduce you to the recent Awards pages added to congratulate our 2020 ASM Award winners, along with their respective presentations, and historical winners for each category. These can be found via the current sliding Homepage Banner, or via the ‘Awards’ drop down menu underneath The College menu.
In the Members Only Area of the website, we have also created an ASM 2020 Presentations page, which includes abstracts and presentations one can revisit from the ASM for viewing at leisure. We aim to include this page from each year moving forward, so we can build up a notable library, and an historical footprint for all in the years ahead.
The Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Recognised Meetings page provides some ideas of upcoming meets with their respective links that may also be of interest (find via recertification fly out menu), and the Recertification page now accepts CPD submissions via an electronic portal, with the aim being to streamline this process and make it easier for all.
The Tiny Perfusion Letter is found on the sliding Homepage Banner, is very regularly updated and offers interesting reading.
We encourage you to visit these pages and to regularly engage with the ANZCP. Should anyone have any recommendations, they are very welcome – submissions of webinars, meetings, interesting content, even a unit photograph or news (with relevant permissions) are all encouraged. BACK TO THE FUTURE –
LESSONS FROM THE PAST,
PROSPECTS FOR THE FUTURE Rob Baker, Britney Westbrook and Richard Newland
The concept of having a joint perfusion, anaesthesia & surgical meeting has been proposed numerous times over the past years, and this year it is planned to come to fruition. The Inaugural Tri-Society Cardiac & Thoracic Symposium (3SCTS) is planned to be held from Wednesday 10 November – Saturday 13 November 2021 at the Cairns Convention Centre.
This will be a combined scientific meeting of three societies – the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS), the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Cardiac Thoracic Vascular Special Interest Group (ANZCA CTVP SIG), and the Australian and New Zealand College of Perfusionists (ANZCP). This year the 3SCTS Symposium will be also be held in conjunction with the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery 2021 (ISMICS) Workshop.
Planning of the scientific content for the meeting is well underway, with an impressive list of leading Australian and New Zealand clinicians invited to present on topics such as evidence based medicine, blood management, aortic, mitral, robotic, coronary and transcatheter surgery, myocardial protection and experience from around the world with
COVID-19. Sessions will be run for surgical, anaesthesia, nursing, perfusion and allied health streams with a mix of live and virtual presentations.
Specifically for the ANZCP we are planning a 90 minute submitted abstract session on both Thursday and Friday, an invited speaker session and a fireside chat session on Saturday, so there is plenty of opportunity to make a contribution. We will provide an update soon with the content of the invited and fireside chat sessions once the presenters have confirmed their invitations. Friday evening we are planning to hold the gala dinner and awards evening and there will also be a combined dinner Saturday evening, so this will definitely be an event not to be missed as I am sure that there will be a fantastic atmosphere for this great opportunity to hold a face to face combined professional scientific meeting.
We will update you further soon.
