Under 16 White – Season 2018
Season 2017/18 was a rewarding one for the Whites. We had a very healthy 14 players this season, adding six new players to the team. The boys had a great time training and playing with their mates, and there were some solid performances from the team and individuals throughout the season.
Season Highlights:
• Attendance and fun at training – the boys had a brilliant time at training and loved hanging out together. It was a highlight of their week. Even the Oakhill boys (Aidan, Ben, Jonno & Yash) who trained on the
same day at Oakhill always enjoyed coming over to do some extra training even though they were hot & exhausted from their school training (a special thanks to Roopal for bussing them over to Greenway #2 each week).
• The boys notched up 4 wins and 1 draw coming in overall 5th place for the season, just missing out on a finals berth by 2 points!
Player Profiles:
John Koleth (Captain)
Johnny had a brilliant 2018 as the captain of the team. Johnny K is the lifeblood of the Whites and one of the favourites amongst the boys. He captained exceptionally well, and was again always encouraging in the field with all the boys. For the second year in a row, he was rewarded with the Team Player award by popular vote from the boys. Johnny is a very good bowler and showed everyone how good a batsman he is this year as well. John’s bowling figures (8 wickets @ 32.25av) with a best of 3/34 against Castle Hill RSL in round 2 were solid. John’s batting came of age this season, and his two bests of 68 against Gold in round 3 and 91 against Normanhurst in round 4 were two of the batting highlights of the season. All up John scored 221 across 7 innings with a batting average of 31.57 every time he walked on the park. Well done John – great stuff.
Jude Boyle (vice Captain)
Jude continued to develop his batting making several good knocks this season, with a best of 63 against Normanhurst and a total runs of 166 with an average of 55.33. Jude’s wicket keeping is going well, and his bowling continues to be very handy (3 wickets with a 44.33av). Great work Jude
Aidan Jackson
Aidan was a brilliant addition to the line up this year, returning to the team after a two-year soujorn. He is a very solid all rounder with a heart of gold. Fortunately for Aidan but unfortunately for the team, he was mostly unavailable for the season as he made the Oakhill First XI team who also play on Saturday, so he was only able to participate in 5 club matches. Even still he managed to get 8 wickets with a 9.38 average. His batting was similarly solid, with a total of 143 runs, high score of 57 and a batting average of 47.67 every time he took the field. Well done, Aidan.
Ben Dunkerley
Benny also made a welcome return to the Whites after a sojourn in the lower age group for a few years. Ben managed 8 matches in the season but had to split his time playing Oakhill 2nd IX cricket. In round 1, he came out of the blocks with a cracker of a knock, smashing 101no against Berowra Glenorie. It was a flawless performance and so good to watch. Benny’s other significant batting performances were a score of 29 on the return match against Berowra Glenorie and 26 against Gold. All up Benny made 169 runs for the season @ 42.95av. Well done, Ben.
Jonathan Moran
Jonno enjoyed his club season this year, especially his batting. Jonno also had to split his time playing for Oakhill, as he made the Oakhill 2nd XI team, but still managed to play 9 rounds in some capacity. He
