Although Cricket was the focus of the Tour, a highlight was the way the team gelled from the moment we arrived in Tamworth. The Pool was the magnetic attraction at the end of each day. All thanks go to the terrific coaching by Graham Chivers and cooperation from the whole team and all the parents. Meera Gill was an excellent manager who kept us alert, aware and hydrated throughout the Tour. We proudly came away with 2 wins and we had fun all along. I made some excellent friendships and rekindled some old ones too (you know who you are!). I can’t wait to do it again!

It was an amazing experience getting to play out in Tamworth especially with the boys and Danielle, even with the extreme heat. I loved every minute and really enjoyed playing rep cricket for the week. I think we bonded well as a team and by the end of the week we really played as a team! Thank you to the club for giving me this opportunity although I may not have achieved the batting runs I wanted I still had an amazing time, Thanks
Lily
When I was invited to Tamworth it was the most exciting moment of 2017. I did not expect to be selected as no other girls have ever gone on tour. As the first girl selected to ever tour with West Penno I was amazed. I wasn’t the only girl in the end to go to Tamworth though, Lily was also selected to go, I was glad to have the company of one of my best friends! The first training session was a great time to get to know each other but that didn’t happen much as everyone was focused on cricket. We had 2 training sessions before tour but not everyone made it each week. When we all rocked up on Sunday afternoon we had just met each other and I think everyone forgot each other’s names! We all bonded quite quickly though and they were like family to me. The week went by so fast and I was amazed by the standard of the cricketers in every team. Only 3 of the team had ever played on turf before so it was an experience for most of them. We struggled the first few games getting used to the pitches but at the end of the week everyone had learnt something about their skills and themselves. The highlight of the trip for me was being part of the leadership group in the team. Amar, Aryan and I worked well as a team because we have been playing together since under 9s. Amar did such a good job being captain and Aryan was a great vice-captain along with me. Thank you to Meera for being an amazing Manager and keeping everyone so organised. In addition to this I would like to thank my Dad for being Coach. After 2 years of not coaching he came back and did a fabulous job. We all learnt so much from him. Thanks also to the parents for driving us all the way and supporting us every match. Lastly I would like to thank the team as everyone was so generous and caring. Even if we did fight in the pool about the rules for catching tennis we pulled through and worked well on the field!! I made so many good friends that week and I hope to stay friends with them all for a long time. Tamworth was a great way to start 2018 and it has been the best part of the year. It was a trip I will never forget. Bring on Armidale!!

Tamworth was an experience in learning how to "think cricket" for 5 days in extreme heat. We had a fantastic team and built up our team spirit every afternoon by cooling off in the motel pool.

I found it a great experience, it was also a lot of fun. I learnt a fair few rules and learnt the game better. All the boys and girls were nice and I hope to catch up with them again, hopefully we do it again next year. James
The Tamworth tour was my first experience with a touring cricket team. I really enjoyed the opportunity to play on turf wickets, especially testing myself against such a high standard. I appreciated being part of the team, not only when playing cricket games, but also back at the hotel in the pool and playing backyard cricket.

The experience was great as we got to play on turf which was great opportunity to do. It was fun and great to face competitive players that we never knew before. I loved it.”
