But it couldn’t have been all smooth sailing, as the list on Friday turned to thoracic only. However, Russell was lovely and wanted our trip to end positively! He invited us to a beautiful brunch spot on Sunmer Beach, where we had a yummy meal and walked along the beach with Russell, Jill and Luise, learning more about perfusion in Christchurch and getting to know them on a personal level.
Courtney and I thank all the perfusionists from Wellington and Christchurch Hospitals for welcoming us with open arms into your lovely perfusion units. We learnt many valuable skills and differing perfusion techniques. This
made us enthused about returning to our department to present our learnings and implement some of these strategies. We encourage perfusionists to explore regional, national, or international perfusion units to inspire or broaden your knowledge.
This isn’t the last of our fun. We are scheduled to visit Dunedin Hospital in early 2023. We are thrilled to see what Neil and the team will have in store for us. If anyone would like to explore our backyard and hospital, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We would love for you to come and learn how we perfuse in the Waikato.
