The Beatitudes
Matthew 5:1-12
Jesus’ disciples gathered around him, and he taught them:
God blesses those people who rely on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!
God blesses those people who mourn.
God blesses those people who are humble. The earth will belong to them!
God blesses those people who really want to obey him. They will be given what they need!
God blesses those people who are merciful. They will be treated with mercy!
God blesses those people with pure hearts. They will see him!
God blesses those people who are peacemakers. They will be called his children!
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing the right thing. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!
“Be happy and excited!”
