Subject: RE: Schumer letters
Hi Mr. Wilson—
I am now back in the office and happy to follow up with you. I hope all is well. Please see my responses below to the different follow up points. Also, when we ended our meeting, we had said that you should think about how much additional follow up would be useful, if we are unlikely to get significantly different responses from the FBI than you and Senator Schumer received in the past.
I think that the best that we will be able to do to help you is to send another inquiry on your behalf to the FBI/DOJ, making sure that we ask a broadly phrased question to try to capture any possible FBI involvement. As we discussed in the fall, I am doubtful that we will get a significantly different response from the FBI or DOJ than the answer to the narrower question that was asked
earlier. Given that, please let me know if you would still like me to proceed.
I can certainly also follow up with Senator Schumer’s office to see if there has been any further action on the part of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way to track down the past Judiciary Committee staff’s records on this matter. Although the House Judiciary Committee does have oversight over FBI/DOJ, I am not sure there is anything that they will be able to do to further investigate besides to write the kind of letter that we will already be writing on your behalf, and that Senator Schumer wrote.
Thank you for your patience, Celine Mizrahi
