PARENT PARTICIPATION
One of the main purposes of Little Athletics is to have families enjoy doing an outdoor activity together. Parent participation is a critical factor in the success of KLAC and assists in the smooth running of our Saturday morning competitions as well as behind-the-scenes administrative support and Centre management.
Parents are normally rostered to help one week in two during the competition season. Some parents are able to assist more frequently and we welcome their contribution.
Parent assistance involves being on duty for the whole morning. Many different duties are available including Age Group Assistant (assigned to an age group for the morning to provide help with the conduct of events), Canteen, BBQ and Data Entry.
The Committee recognises that in some circumstances parents may not be able to assist for the whole morning during competition. Parents who feel they are unable to fulfil their regular Saturday parent assistance duty need
to contact the Parent Help Official. A number of roles, performed on a weekly basis, are available to enable these parents to fulfil their Parent help commitment. These include equipment set-up (7–8:30am each Saturday), weekday track preparation, support to committee portfolios and equipment pack-away.
Parent help is compulsory for parents of Tiny Tots to U15 athletes. U17 athletes are encouraged to assist appropriately, as competition allows.
The Centre will contact parents who fail to assist with duty. Athletes may not be eligible to qualify for Championships if their parents have failed to assist with duties.
A weekly President's Message is available by email. Please read it each week as it contains important, up to date information.
