San Innovation Talks
Inspiring the Future of Healthcare
San Foundation was delighted to welcome guests to the Clinical Education Centre (CEC) for San Innovation Talks, an evening dedicated to exploring how innovation, research, and clinical excellence are shaping the future of healthcare at the San.
The event brought together clinicians, students, staff, and members of the wider community in a shared space of learning, curiosity, and inspiration, reflecting the idea that the future of healthcare is built through collaboration between those who deliver care today and those who will lead it tomorrow.
We were especially pleased to welcome students from Abbotsleigh, Pymble Ladies’ College, Adventist Wahroonga, and Sydney Girls High School, whose presence brought energy and perspective, and created a valuable opportunity to engage directly with leading specialists across multiple disciplines.
Guests heard from an outstanding
panel of clinicians: A/Prof Brian Owler
AM (Neurosurgeon), Dr Jobe Shatrov (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Dr Csilla Hasovits (Medical Oncologist), Dr Jonathan Kam (Urologist), Dr Jun Kim (Neurosurgeon), and Dr Brian Plunkett (Cardiothoracic Surgeon), who shared insights into the latest advancements transforming patient care.
Each presentation highlighted how innovation is not abstract, but deeply practical, improving surgical precision, expanding treatment options, enhancing recovery, and ultimately improving patient
outcomes. Across all specialties, a consistent message emerged: progress in healthcare
is driven by collaboration, technology, and
a commitment to better care.
The evening also reinforced the San’s commitment to education and innovation, showcasing the importance of creating spaces where clinicians can share knowledge, inspire future generations, and reflect on the evolving practice of medicine.
A sincere thank you is extended to Dr Pecky De Silva (Vascular Surgeon) for guiding the evening as Master of Ceremonies, helping shape a program that connected each contribution into a shared story of progress and purpose.
San Talks served as a powerful reminder that the future of healthcare is not something we wait for, it is something we actively build together through learning, generosity, and shared vision.
Together, through generosity and shared vision, we can continue shaping the future of healthcare at the San. To learn more or support this important work, contact San Foundation on (02) 9480 9405.
