Some atheists claim that the Big Bang is a more
simple explanation of why anything exists than the pre-existence of an omnipotent creator. It may be, but it’s a difference measured on a cosmological
scale that’s way beyond the understanding of most imaginations. It’s true that concepts like Hell, supernaturally-inspired Armageddon, and the Rapture often seem impossibly fantastic. But are they more absurd than some of modern physics with its eleven dimensions, over 90% of the universe consisting of undiscovered “dark” substances, and Schrodinger’s quantum cat, both dead and alive at the same time?

Atheists also speak disparagingly of the Christian God as a “God of gaps.” That is, with Copernicus, Darwin, Einstein, Watson and Crick, et al., the areas that God has an opportunity to influence have gotten smaller and smaller. But given modern physics, with dark matter and energy, the gaps seem to be increasing rather than decreasing these days. Some physicists claim there are infinite numbers of parallel universes that we know nothing about.
The symbolism of black holes is highly suggestive of this. Their “event horizons” are lines beyond which all known physics cease to be applicable. From this ultra-strange angle, the boundary is possibly a miraculous horizon. It could be a miracle because it’s
