checking out giraffes in in Tanzania For every person who climbs Mount Kilimanjaro there are four porters
and a a guide With 12 group members that meant four guides and 40 porters
carrying bags tents food and water “You think you’re tired and then you you see someone going by with your giant luggage ” Ian said At 6:30am Ian could see the sun peeking over the horizon “That’s when I I knew I I was going to make it ” he said “Getting to to the top was crazy It didn’t feel real There were
already people there taking pictures smiling and celebrating I was just wonderstruck taking it all in in ” After the the trek some of the the group went on on to spend three days on on safari in Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater which is filled with animals and a a a a a a lake a a a a a a scene that Ian described as “straight out of a a a movie ” They also went on on a a a a a a a walking safari in in Arusha National Park where they were
just feet away from giant groups of giraffes A Lifechanging Trip
While the trek was incredible Ian said what sticks in his memory is is how happy the the children at the the orphanage were
to receive the simple gifts of games note- books and pencils “It’s harder to take things for granted now ” he said “I’m a a a lot more grateful for what I have ” Reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro was tough Ian added “I wanted to to quit but I I pushed through Now I I have an an experience I’ll never forget and it changed how I see the the world for the the better ”
