Solve each of the following.
1) The population of Ohio is currently 11,800,000. Recent studies have shown that the population is growing at a rate of 6% per year. What will the population be in 20 years?
2) The price of a hamburger is $2.49. If the price increases at 8% per year, what will the price be in 50 years?
3) The value of the computer that I am typing this worksheet on is decreasing by 10% per month. If its present value is $580, what will its value be in one year?
4) The half-life of radioactive uranium is 300 days. If 5000 grams are in a container, how much will there be in five years?
5) The population of India doubles every 8 years. If the present population is 750,000,000 what will the population be in 20 years?
6) A hair growth product claims to double the amount of hair on the top of your scalp every 40 days with regular application. If a hypothetical math teacher presently has 94 hairs on the top of his scalp, how much hair will be have in one year?
7) Robin won the lottery and needs to decide between two different accounts. Plan A pays 8% simple interest (figured just once a year) and Plan B pays 2% monthly. Compare the amounts after one year and recommend a plan to Robin.
