Just Better Care community
Short stories of what is possible in our communities across Australia.
Iwasatthecinemaona Saturday with my family. We were watching the ads on the big screen before the premiere. An ad for Just Better Care came up and my daughter sung out ‘that’s where you work, daddy’.
A few people looked back
at me, smiled and nodded.
I was a five minute celebrity. It made me feel really proud to be part of Just Better Care Macathur.

A pastime with good company
After exhausting
the book collection
at her son Andrew’s
house, Just Better
Care Brisbane North
customer Margaret
set her sights on a
new goal: to read all
the books in her local
library. She has signed
up for her first ever library card and wants to make her way through the entire collection.
Every second week, she borrows seven new books to thumb through. A favourite so far was a book featuring Henry the VIII of England, but Andrew said she will pick up anything that has words and a cover.
“She reads everything: motivational, health and wellness, action, drama, crime. Be it fiction or non- fiction: you name it, she will have already read it, or will soon. A good book is all she needs,” he said.
Facebook poll: how did your grandparents meet? Giselle
My grandfather asked his father (who was a minister) if there were any nice women that he
had met during his sermons at another parish.
He replied that there was one lovely lady with big beautiful brown eyes and he organised with her parents a dinner for them to meet. My grandmother was sent to the kitchen to clear the dishes and
my grandfather was sent to help her. The cheeky young fellow used their brief moment away from their parents to kiss her, which she was delighted by. They were married for about 70 years before my grandfather passed away.
