Christine was awarded the National Possible Award in recognition of her six-year commitment to support two young men living with disability.
Her colleagues say she is a source of motivation and inspiration with her positive and professional outlook, empathy for others, her persistence and tenacity in getting results.
Gold Coast Owner Bram Baker nominated Christine for the award. He said the two young men under her care have shown unprecedented progress thanks to the longevity and quality of the support provided by Christine over six years.
“She worked tirelessly to understand the young men’s diagnoses and develop care plans that provide them with the best opportunities to reach their goals,” Bram said.
“She has been a mentor for these young men and for the staff who provide support under her leadership.”
Christine’s award was announced at the Gold Coast long-serving staff award ceremony. Not usually a fan of the limelight, she was shocked and honoured to receive national recognition.
Christine said her greatest reward is knowing she’s helping to improve someone’s quality of life. “Seeing the young boys living their lives to the
fullest is so fulfilling. It means everything to me. Being able to make a difference in someone’s life gives me great joy,” she said.
Christine shows a genuine desire for people to live the life they want with dignity and fun.”
