Speaking of putting the needs
of others before ourselves, we
also traverse the difficult topics of abuse and mistreatment and how to recognise when someone you care about may be in harm’s way. As well as pointing out some of the indicators of abuse, we also offer clear actions to take in the event the alleged victim’s wellbeing is at risk.
While we don’t profess to be entirely up with the play when it comes to the transformative vocab preferred by Generation Alpha or their predecessors Generation Z, we do attempt to decipher some of their more commonly used words and phrases. It is our sincere hope that as well as providing a
bit of light relief, it may also help narrow the gap between our world and theirs.

Among the inspiring people we’ll introduce you to this issue is our cover star Paul de Gelder.
death-defying adventurer, Paul became a double amputee after he was attacked by a shark while working as a clearance diver in Sydney Harbour.
Rather than allowing his life to be defined by this incident, Paul has spent the past decade proving that the only thing he hates more than being labelled as disabled is feeling any kind of restriction as a result of missing an arm and leg.
Another incredible person we’ll introduce you to this issue is Tracey Porter. A support professional based on the NSW south coast, this selfless mother-of-two lost
her home and animals in the devastating bushfires that engulfed the region earlier this year.
Without thought for herself or her own circumstances, Tracey took just five days off before
