and how the “little things matter”. Soon after, Simone accepted a position as Executive Assistant to the Director, an administration- based role that focused on diary management and meeting minutes. Simone says it allowed her the chance to understand how the business works and how Support Workers and the office team make a difference to the running of the organisation.
Her next role was again in the office, this time as Administration and Quality Manager. It was here Simone says she learned how
the improvement and analysis
of processes and the demand
to meet compliance obligations ultimately impacted customers of Just Better Care.
Today, Simone, who is now based in the coastal town of Tweed Heads on the Queensland/ New South Wales border, is the Franchise Manager for both the Gold Coast and the Northern Rivers offices.
She says the knowledge she picked up from all her previous experiences gave her the confidence to take on such a “varied but challenging and rewarding” role.
“I have progressed from Support Worker to Franchise Manager. It hasn’t been easy,
but it has been very rewarding
for me in terms of job satisfaction. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that have been provided to me.”
Simone says the aspect of her current work that brings her the most satisfaction is the challenge and variety that her job entails. This is because no two days are ever the same, she says.
“Some of our clients have been with us for quite some time, so you get to know them quite well and see the care and improvements we provide to assist them. To be able to have care so that they can stay in their own home, or social support to get them out and about in the community is very rewarding.”
Simone says she is very proud of the team of Support Workers she has on her side, as well as the franchise’s clinicians, leaders and office staff. She finds it particularly rewarding to see a staff member start their journey with the organisation and witness them succeed in their role, learn new skills or move to other positions within Just Better Care.
“Our Support Workers have
the opportunity to work with our aged care customers, or attend training to assist with our disability customers. Our office staff have the potential to start in one role, then further their office career. Several of our Gold Coast team have had the opportunity to also further their career and it’s been rewarding watching them develop. We are always looking for the next superstar to join our diverse team.”
