GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT 21
In 2011 two produce stands furnished by the SC Department of Commerce started the Uptown Market on Maxwell Avenue. The market's current location, the 160 ft. open-air brick pavilion, was completed in April 2016. Designed by Furman Architects to be reminiscent of the old Seaboard train station located in town, the pavilion allows easy access for local farmers and their customers. The landscaping includes educational displays of edible plants. The venue hosts concerts and events, and includes bike racks. The 3,600 square foot interactive water feature boasts 42 water jets and has a maximum capacity of 343 people. This water feature is free and open to the public from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends.
