Magnolia Park is a small park in Uptown Greenwood featuring a picnic shelter, playground, and walking track. Hiking and biking trails are also popular in the Greenwood region. Golf in Greenwood
has become extremely popular. Woven around the picturesque landscape and numerous lakes are quality golf courses, including a Davis Love III designed course set alongside
Lander’s 200 student-athletes compete in the Peach Belt Conference, and the university is home to the 2,500-seat Horne Arena, as well as the 28-acre Jeff May Recreation and Sports Complex, which features modern stadiums for baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s soccer. Lander’s men’s tennis team has won 12 national championships, and the men’s baseball team has made recent appearances in the NCAA Division II College World Series. The men’s golf, soccer and basketball teams, as well as the women’s basketball and volleyball teams, have also competed in regional and national tournaments. The Lander University Equestrian Center features an outdoor covered arena for a therapeutic riding program and a barn to stable the equestrian team’s horses and riding equipment.

The Drummond Center at Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area
is a great place for business meetings, family gatherings or wedding receptions. Picnic areas are located throughout the park. Walk a scenic nature trail, or camp at one of two campgrounds on or near Lake Greenwood at this 915-acre pine and hardwood forest. Each campsite has water, electrical hookup and a picnic table; hot showers and restroom facilities. A new bike and walking trail was recently completed.
Other parks in the area include Greenwood’s newest park, Grace Street Park, which features a dog park, walking trail, and a shelter
Lake Greenwood and a Tom Jackson course. With value-priced
golf packages available, many golfers have discovered this area as a hidden gem for the sport. The Masters® Tournament also brings many visitors to the Greenwood area. Held each year during the
first full week in April, many Masters guests visit Greenwood
for dining and accommodations throughout the week since Greenwood’s location along U.S. Highway 25 is one hour north
of Augusta, Georgia. For the active adult, league and tournament tennis, with the exception of the winter months, is ongoing and offers play on different levels through the USTA League. In addition,
the LPGA Symetra Tour hosts their premier event right here in Greenwood.
