FITTING A SLING IN BED USING SLIDE SHEETS

Slide sheets may be used for fitting a sling on the bed
Use two flat sheets slide the sling down between the two slide sheets until the bottom of the sling is in line with the service user’s base of the spine
Bring the legs piece round along the side of the service user
Remove the top sheet before hoisting
Bring the legs piece through and cross any centre leg straps Hoist as above

Always communicate with service user
Encourage service user to sit forward in the chair
Slide the sling down the back of the chair with label and any handles facing the back of the chair
