SAFETY ISSUES
• Must be able to weight bear • Have upper body strength
• Good grip
• Able to follow instructions
• Client able to lift feet onto platform • In good working order
RAISING
• Bring stand aid towards the client, asking then to raise their feet and place on the platform
• Check that knee brace is adjusted to client appropriate position
• Apply brakes
• Ask client to hold onto handle securely and push through feet securely when starting to rise
LOWERING
• Be sure the client’s legs are touching the back of the chair • Ask them to stick their bottom out
• Lower them back into chair
• Release brakes
