 STEVE PLUMMER - DIRECTOR
Like so many young people in the early 80’s & 90’s, I started working with my dad to gain a little extra money during school holidays and weekends.
One day after working we popped into a plastering showroom in Southgate North London. Whilst my dad was talking to the salesman I went into the small workshop at the rear and discovered fibrous plastering. It was fascinating to see the tradesmen producing the plasterwork, not long after, I started a Saturday job and the passion for fibrous plastering commenced.
At Sixteen I left school and commenced a three-year apprenticeship.
I qualified as a plasterer, gained years of knowledge and worked my up the ladder. I’m now fortunate to be a director for one of the most prestigious fibrous plastering companies in the UK. We are privileged to work in some of the most amazing historic building, palaces, hotels and luxury private residences in the UK and abroad.
This could be your future; many things are possible if the passion grips you. The reward from creating something from in essence plaster & water and making something beautiful or installing it on a project is in my opinion a fantastic achievement and gives great satisfaction.
I wish you every success for the future in whatever you choose, I hope you find a passion for plastering and become the future generation of highly skilled fibrous plasterers.
“Working at Locker and Riley has been a great chance to learn new skills within a more creative, artisanal industry, and has built up my confidence within the field. The team helps you to develop your desired skill set and pushes you to excel within it, giving great guidance and support for you within your career journey, whilst rewarding hard work and determination. I would definitely recommend trying it out and seeing if it fits for you.” Nate – CAD Designer.
