ore not suited for shipment without sorting was screened throug a 1/4-inch-mesh screen.
The oversize was hand sorted into a shipping product an waste, while the undersize was hand jigged into a shipping pros uct and a waste tailing. The hand-sorted and jigged mated: assayed as shown in the above table, and jig rejects left on a dump assayed 3 per cent lead and amount to between 4,000 an 5,000 tons. Nearly 1,000 tons of screened but not jigged materi; assaying 4.5 per cent lead remains on the dump awaiting trea ment. The remainder of the dump, approximately 5,000 ton consists of waste and partly hand sorted oversize material i about equal quantities. The waste part may average 3 per cei lead, and the oversize and partly sorted material probably ave ages 4 to 5 per cent lead. Some layers of the dump are higl enough in lead to ship direct to the smelter under normal pric( for lead.
Transportation and treatment charges on the ores from th district have varied within the following limits : Trucking $2.( per ton ; freight to El Paso, $1.00 to $1.15 per ton ; and smeltin base rate, $3.50 to $5.00 per ton.
MINE WORKINGS
The Old Dude shaft on the Bulldog claim is about 300 fel
north of the main Anniversary shaft. The lowest lateral wor] ings appear to have been on the 100-foot level, although the sha: was sunk to a depth of 300 feet. The Anniversary shaft on ti Anniversary claim lies south-southwest of the Old Dude shot and is 500 feet deep. Both of these shafts are on the same vei: which has a strike of N. 10° E. Levels have been extended 1 the north to connect with the Old Dude shaft on the 100-fo1 and 300-foot levels. South of the shaft, 100-foot, 200-foot, 400-fol and 500-foot levels have been driven. The 100-foot and 200-fol levels south of the shaft yielded ore during the later history ( the mine, the stoped areas being shown on the sketch sectio: About 200 feet south of the shaft a barren dike cuts off the vei and no mining has been done south of this point. The 40 foot level south extends 150 feet from the shaft, and at the end this level a diamond-drill station was located, the hole from whit extended to a depth of between 300 and 400 feet, and from ti
