Severstal Ventures backs international fund to invest in intelligent systems and automation solutions. Severstal Ventures, an investment vehicle created earlier this year by the Russian steel and mining giant Severstal, has backed the first round of the Chrysalix RoboValley fund (Chrysalix RBV GP Ltd), along with other corporations. The amount of Severstal Ventures’ contribution has not been disclosed officially, but in an exchange with Russian business daily Vedomosti, “a source close to the deal” put the figure at “around $10mn.” With a capital of $100mn, according to Vedomosti, Chrysalix RoboValley will invest across Europe, North America and Asia. It will focus on AI and machine learning, IoT, robotics, new materials and other technologies enabling the digital transformation of large corporations.
Horizon Capital is acquiring a minority stake in Lviv IT company Intellias.
Ranked among the top 10 IT companies in Ukraine, Intellias has a staff of 1,100 employees. Providing a full range of software development services, Intellias plans to open development centres in Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Eastern Europe. Vitaly Sedler, Intellias co-founder and CEO, said: "Intellias expands its operations in Eastern and Central Europe through investments from Horizon Capital."
Spain’s Glovo moped delivery service has chosen Ukraine to be its fifth European market . On Thursday, the company launched service in Kyiv, guaranteeing delivery of food, groceries, and pharmaceuticals within one hour. Couriers, known as ‘Glovers’ respond to messages through the Glovo app, charging a minimum of 30 UAHper delivery.
Nova Poshta predicts it will increase deliveries this year by 17%, to 170mn , Oleksandr Bulba, director of the privately owned delivery company, tells Interfax-Ukraine. With e-commerce fueling its growth, Nova Poshta is adding 600 new delivery points, a 25% expansion. Through June, the company delivered 78mn items, 21% more than in the first half of 2017.

The Ukrainian tour operator GTO Travel and Kazakh Kompas have announced a merger and the beginning of work under the single brand Kompas. Kompas CEO Anna Solovyova said at a press conference in Kyiv the company's cooperation has begun and has been successfully continuing for several years. "We have far-reaching plans. Of course, not this year and not the next one, but I want to get to an IPO, this is goal number one for me. I want to make tourism transparent and honest. We are striving for this. Therefore we are trying to consolidate and open up," she said, noting that in 2017 the company entered the Kyrgyz market. GTO Travel tour operator (Kyiv) was established in 2004. Its founders are Mykhailo Tiurin, Volodymyr Tiurin, Olena Tiurina, and Oleksandr Tiurin. The company sends tourists to 61 countries.
