Recruiting platform for medical staff in Romania gets angel financing
Romanian online medical recruitment platform MEDIjobs has attracted financing worth approximately $0.9mn from venture capital fund Gapminder and other angel investors in its second financing round, Startupcafe.ro informed.
GapMinder is a Venture Capital Fund, targeting IT Software and Services start-ups in Romania and Central Eastern Europe (CEE).
The startup was founded in 2015 by the brothers Catrinel and George Hagivreta.
“After this financing round, we will continue expanding in Romania, but also abroad. We already work with over 200 hospitals and clinics in the country. We have big plans in the next 12 months, so we are actively looking to hire new, passionate colleagues, in software development, marketing and sales teams,” said Catrinel Hagivreta, co-founder and CEO of MEDIjobs.
The project is aimed at increasing the retention rate of medical specialists in Romania and thus at improving the quality of health services, by streamlining the recruitment processes and
improving the recruitment experience for both candidates and companies in the medical sector.
Some 10,000 medical professionals have left Romania over the past couple of years (2017- 2018), according to estimates from the Ministry of Education.
Officially, over the period 2010-2016, over 16,000 medical professionals demanded the issuance
of certificates from the Romanian College of Physicians (needed for finding jobs abroad), according to digi24.ro. In 2017 alone, over 1,300 Romanian doctors chose to leave to work in hospitals abroad, according to the quoted site.
Of these, most chose France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland and Belgium.
Through the platform, people who want a job in the medical field receive only the offers appropriate for their experience and expertise, thus shortening the classic procedure of finding a job and avoiding applying to ads for inappropriate jobs. All the services offered
by MEDIjobs for medical candidates are free, explained the founders of the startup.
