Russian carsharing startup Delimobil could IPO in 2020
Russian carsharing start-up Delimobil could hold an IPO at the end of 2020 on Moscow Exchange, Interfax reported on August 7 citing the head of Mikro Kapital Group Vincenzo Trani.
Delimobil is one of about a dozen carsharing operators in Moscow that, along with Belka Car, You Drive, and Yandex.Drive, collectively control 94% of the market. Delimobil estimated that the carsharing market in Moscow already reached 12,000-13,000 vehicles in 2018.
"As far as an IPO is concerned, we plan it on the Moscow Exchange, not abroad, and we plan it for the end of 2020," Trani said.
Carsharing participants in Moscow could
triple to 30,000 by 2025, according to a PriceWaterHouseCoopers forecast cited by RBC business portal in September 2018. The total car sharing and taxi market in 2017-2025 will grow 2.5-fold to RUB1.6 trillion ($24bn), as estimated by Sberbank CIB.
Polish competition watchdog slaps UPC Polska with heavy fine
Internet and telecommunications services provider UPC Poland, controlled by Liberty Global, is to pay PLN33mn (€7.6mn) in fines and return unduly charged fees to clients, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) announced on August 13.
The competition watchdog received complaints that the company was unilaterally removing channels and increasing the subscription fees for cable
Tv. Customers felt cheated when the operator removed certain channels, according to UOKiK.
In indefinite contracts, there was also a clause that stipulated that the company may increase the subscription fee from PLN5 to PLN8 once a year without giving any reasons. The competition office also found that practice not in line with regulations.
The UOKiK also looked into the practice of UPC to arbitrarily decide whether technicians' calls were justified. When they didn't consider calls necessary, the company charged clients PLN50 each time.
UPC Polska must pay PLN33mn in fines and refund clients the difference in subscription fee increases and fees for calling technical staff. It must also return access to deleted channels to customers if they are still available.
UPC Poland subscriber base totaled 1.47mn at the end of June, up by 38,000 y/y and by 20,300 since the start of the year. The average broadband speed used by customers totaled 220 Mbps, as the company expanded the gigabit network to over 3.5mn households
