State Gas revises down Queensland well’s production numbers
 PROJECTS & COMPANIES
AUSTRALIAN independent State Gas has revised down its production numbers for the Nyanda-4 gas well in Queensland after launching an audit into its initial figures late last year.
The Brisbane-based company said on Janu- ary 13 that after having audited all of the results received from Nyanda-4’s production test, the company had “identified flaws in externally specified and supplied metering equipment”. It said it had begun to cross-verify Nyanda-4’s flow rates at the end of December via a Critical Flow Prover (CFP) as well as through an investigation of back pressure.
State Gas said the well was producing 120,000 cubic feet (3,398 cubic metres) per day as of January 13, which is significantly less than the 436,000 cubic feet (12,348 cubic metres) per day of production the company announced on December 30.
State Gas said this week that Nyanda-4 had pro- duced 2mn cubic feet (56,640 cubic metres) of gas between December 9 – when sustained gas flows began – and January 13. Dewatering of the well, which is the first production test of the Reid’s Dome Beds project, began on December 4.
Reid’s Dome Beds, which is located in petro- leum lease (PL) 231 in the Bowen Basin, is home to coal-bed methane (CBM), conventional and tight gas targets. State Gas operates PL 231 with a 100% interest.
The company said water levels were 702 metres from the surface and continued to drain slowly, leading to a linear increase in gas produc- tion. State Gas said: “[T]he fluid level remains above the level of the lower coals and sands in the well, and further increases in the gas flow rate are therefore expected.”
The developer said on January 8 that it had begun workover activities on PL 231’s second well, Serocold-1, and that a produc- tion test would begin once surface facilities had been installed, anticipated towards the end of this week.
The company has drilled three wells at the Reid’s Dome Beds project, with each of them displaying gas shows. As such, Satte Gas has now begun to plan for a pilot testing programme in 2020, hiring Netherland Sewell & Associates International (NSAI) to serves as the pro- gramme’s reserve certifier.™
