Russia’s Tinkoff Bank plans to launch virtual operator with Tele2
Turkish IT hardware firm Arena Bilgisayar sells 51% of Adeo Bilisim
Czech telecom operator O2 CR raises CZK3.5bn in new funding
Russian retail bank Tinkoff announced its intention to launch a virtual mobile operator in the network of Tele2.
“We understand that you’re tired of the ‘big three’ monopoly, their terrible service, horse tariffs, and tricks,” the bank’s main owner Oleg Tinkov wrote on Facebook, referring to Vimpelcom, MTS, and MegaFon mobile operators, and pledging to “help Tele2 change the situation”.
Sources close to the deal told Vedomosti daily that the launch is planned for the end of 2017 or beginning of 2018. Tinkoff promises consumers “comfortable tariffs, lots of free and cool stuff, and of course super-proposals on data”.
Turkish computer hardware and electronics wholesale distributor Arena Bilgisayar has sold a 51% stake in its information systems unit Adeo Bilisim to the other shareholders of the company for TRY6m (€1.5mn), Arena said in an April 5 stock market filing.
Arena Bilgisayar shares were down 0.22% d/d as of 14:19 local time while BIST-100 was down 0.32%.
A TRY3.5mn profit from the sale would be recorded by Arena Bilgisayar, the filing added.
O2 CR has secured CZK3.5bn (€129mn) in new financing, the Czech telecom operator announced late on April 4.
The funding package, consisting of CZK3bn and €20mn, will be used for “general corporate purposes” the company said in a statement. It is likely the capital will go towards financing O2 CR’s share premium distribution and ongoing buyback.
The last trading date with a claim on the company’s CZK21 per share dividend (including a CZK17 regular payout and CZK4 share premium distribution) is scheduled for May 5. The cost of the debt was not disclosed.
