Russia's Yandex acquires coupon aggregator Edadeal
Russia's internet services major Yandex acquired 100% of discount and coupon aggregator Edadeal, RBC business daily said on Octo- ber 2, citing the founder of the start-up and ex-product manager of Yandex Natalia Shagarina.
As reported by bne InelliNews, Edadeal is taking the Russian online retail business by storm, and is fermenting a revolution by offering punters a cashback reward for buying a product.
Shagarina founded the company in 2012, with Yandex acquiring the first 10% in 2015 for an undisclosed amount. Analysts estimated that Edadeal could be valued at RUB600mn-800mn ($9mn-12mn).
“I didn't set the company up because I had a good idea that I thought would make a lot of money,” Shagarina told bne IntelliNews in March. “I was just concerned with solving problems that affect my own personal life.”
Serbian majority state-owned telco Telekom Srbija is interested in ac- quiring Telekom Albania, media in Serbia reported on September 30.
The acquisition is in line with the company’s plan to expand in the region.
Telekom Albania, known as AMC until 2015, is the second largest tel- ecom operator in Albania. AMC has been part of the Greek COSMOTE Group since 2000 and joined the Deutsche Telekom group in 2008.
“The aim of Telecom Serbija is to position itself as a regional leader in the field of telecommunications. We placed an offer, which is now under consideration," broadcaster B92 said, citing officials from Telekom Srbija. Details were not revealed.
US primary data collection and research company DISQO IT
is opening a branch in Armenia, itel.am reported on October 1.
DISQO, which reportedly has lately attracted $13.5mn in investment, was founded by Armenians in 2015 in Los Angeles.
The Armenian branch is to employ 30 senior specialists in its first stage.
The company’s co-founder and technical director Dro Koucharian is to soon come to Armenia to get acquainted with Armenia’s IT com- munity and new team members. DISQO’s Armenian office is to start operations in October at the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies.
Telekom Srbija interested in acquiring Telekom Albania
US-based primary data collection and research company DISQO IT to open in Armenia
